What is this show all about?
Absurdity. Plain and simple. Matchstick McCoy follows the titular character through a bacon grease covered pie of 70's stereotypes and bathes in it; all the while maintaining no dignity whatsoever.
The character was created by Benjamin Watts around 2007 and written into a sketch that was a spoof of a decade overflowing with exploitation. Whether it be Kung Fu flicks, Blaxploitation, Spy shows or movies, the idea was to capture the feel of not just one, but all of those shows. Mixing up the genres into one giant satire. In late 2010 the idea finally put into to motion was that of a web series. One that aims to pay homage to the likes of John Shaft, Dolemite, Baretta, Golden Harvest Pictures and the like. All the while spoofing what was commonly portrayed as manly, desirable or *"cool".
So follow Matchstick McCoy as he braves through adventures using his tough as nails cop tactics, like any good 70's cop should. Bewilder at the sheer manliness of his charisma and the depth of his Kung Fu. Wonder at all the exploitive tactics used to absurd proportions here, just as they were decades ago. Revel in the incredible guest starring cast. Yeah.
